The competition is opened to citizens and nationals of St. Kitts & Nevis.

The St. Kitts Music Festival Committee, or its agent, VhCommunications & Marketing Agency, reserves the right to accept or reject any applicant, for any reason and to make any changes to the rules and other competition requirements deemed necessary in the best interest of the competition.

DEADLINE for Registration: All applications MUST be submitted NO LATER than Midday Friday 26th May , 2017, unless otherwise allowed by VhCommunications.

The Competition Rules:

The competition will be a musical mix down where the DJs are required to use only the music of 2017 Music Festival artistes. 

The music must consist of artistes across genres.

The more artistes used, increases the amount of awarded points. 

One point will be awarded for each artiste used. Maximum 30 Points.

A maximum of ten (10) minutes will be allocated to each DJ to execute their mix down. Penalties will result for exceeding this time limit.

No Sinc is allowed. One point will be deducted for each fraction using sinc.

Participants cannot repeat songs (one point deducted for each repeat).

Participants also cannot repeat artistes in their Mix Down and (one point will be deducted for each repeat).

Efforts to gain high levels of crowd participation are critical. A possible maximum 10 points could be gained.

Personal physical and dress appearances are important. Five (5) points will be awarded for this.

Participants must be punctual. 

All participants MUST arrive no later than one hour before the scheduled start of the competition and MUST ensure that their equipment is set up, tested and ready for competition no later than 15 minutes before show time. 

Any participant who arrives late will be automatically disqualified.

Any participant who fails to set up their equipment within the required time frame (15 minutes before show time) will be automatically disqualified.

Each participant will be required to 'pull' a number, at a time to be determined and shared by the organizers. That number would be the appearance number for the participant on the night of the competition.

The winner will be required to entertain the audience up to one hour after the announcement of the results, without additional compensation.

Other than the name of the DJ or Sound System, no branding of any type, included any incorporated in to the name of the DJ or sound system, is allowed. And there shall not be any oral acknowledgements of any corporate or other entity, not approved by VhCommunications. Any participant in breach will be disqualified.


Judging:

There will be a maximum of four (4) judges. Three of which will judge out front of the execution of mix and one on stage to observe the mixing of dj's to make sure it was a clean mix and the dj did not sinc.

Points will be deducted for exceeding the ten (10) minute time limit. A half point to be deducted for every second past the time limit.

Criteria and Points

Mix Down overall execution (Smooth transitions from one song to another) - 40 points

Incorporation of music from 2016 festival artistes - 30 points

Creativity when mixing (remixes on spot with artistes songs, scratching and styling while in the execution of mix) - 20 points

Crowd response and participation - 10 points
