Consideration given to bonus act for Music Festival
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts THE Music Festival Committee is currently in the process of exploring the option of an additional act to the line-up for the 2017 edition of St. Kitts mega musical event.
This was confirmed by head of the Artiste Selection Committee, Ambassador Jonel Powell, who indicated that it is part of the surprise they had announced at the Big Reveal of the final performers last month.
During April's revelation, the Committee had announced the final line-up for the June 22-24 event and the nights that each act would be performing.
However, finalization of the bonus act depends on a number of factors, Powell told SKNVibes, one of which includes budget.
We have been approached by a number of artistes subsequent to the final line-up coming out. So, with budget allowing and number of other factors like production, we may very well do it.
We are looking at a bonus act, Powell said. I would not want to comment on it at this time because we have not yet confirmed what exactly we want to do yet, since it would be premature.
Powell noted that they are discussing the viability of adding the bonus act.
The Committee made a concerted effort to plan and announce the names and date for this year's festival earlier than it did in previous years.
This was done to lock-in artistes and promote the event so as to attract more visitors to the island during that time, organizers said.
The organizers had launched the event back in February at a simple media event, where they announced several top performers including the like of Jah Cure, Shabba Ranks and the Goo Goo Dolls.
At a party-styled event, the organizers gave the entire line-up for the event.
Meanwhile, a number of fringe activities have been planned leading up this year's Music Festival that would see active participation from the public.
